As of 13 July 2020 all ESR samples received by the laboratories must be accompanied by relevant clinical details in order to be processed.

ESRs without relevant clinical details, as per table below, will not be processed.

  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in children
  • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
  • Kawasaki disease
  • Rheumatic fever
  • Suspected prosthetic joint inflammation
  • Polymyalgia Rheumatica

Requesting clinicians will need to ensure that the indication is clearly recorded under the clinical details section of the request form to ensure that the test is processed.
